**Chandigarh 10K** is a new chip-timed road race in Chandigarh with two distances,
a 10K and a 5K. It takes place on **Sunday, 28 February 2027, in Sector 1**. The
10K starts from about 6:00 AM and the 5K from about 6:20 AM. Entry is ₹1,399 for
the 10K and ₹999 for the 5K, and bookings made till 31 December 2026 get 10% off.

## The two races

The race keeps things simple with only two distances. The **10K Timed Run** is open
to runners aged 16 and above on race day, with a cut-off of 1 hour 45 minutes. The**
5K Timed Run** is open from age 12, with a cut-off of 1 hour. Runners under 18 need
a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

If you have never raced a 10K, late February is a good time to try. Chandigarh mornings
are still cool, and the flat roads around Sector 1 suit a steady first attempt or
a push for a new personal best.

**Race day, Sunday 28 February 2027:** reach Sector 1 early. Final start times will
be shared before race day.

Dussehra closes the Ramayana season with Ravan Dahan on 20 October, and the following
week the city remembers the poet the epic is credited to.

## Who was Maharishi Valmiki?

Valmiki is honoured as the Adi Kavi, the first poet. Tradition credits him with 
the Ramayana, which runs to about 24,000 verses in seven books. The story goes that
the first shloka came to him in grief, after he saw a hunter kill one of a pair 
of mating birds. He later wrote the whole epic in the same metre.

He is also a character in his own story. In the last part of the Ramayana, Sita 
lives at Valmiki’s ashram, where her sons Lava and Kusha grow up and learn the epic
from him.

Wikipedia notes that the festival is celebrated in particular by the Balmiki community,
and that its date follows the lunar calendar, falling on the full moon of Ashwin.

The tour is presented by Kotak Solitaire, powered by Visa, and produced and promoted
by Team Innovation, the company behind Jasmine Sandlas’s arena tour this year, according

The announcement describes stadium-scale shows with a multi-tiered stage and an 
extended runway, 360-degree spatial audio, kinetic LED fixtures, panoramic screens,
lasers and pyrotechnics, and a stage designed to bring Arijit closer to different
parts of the crowd. Whether the Chandigarh show is in a stadium depends on the venue,
which is still to be named.

If you were waiting for this one in August, you are not the only one. When Jasmine
Sandlas announced her first India arena tour in May, the Chandigarh show was the
last stop, on 29 August. The ticket listing now has it on 10 October, at CP67 Mall
in Mohali, and that is the date to go by.

She called it out herself in September. Sharing the news on Instagram, she wrote

Jasmine grew up in Stockton, California, after being born in Jalandhar, and made
