The Congress Party’s central election committee has confirmed Manish Tewari’s nomination for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat, following a comprehensive meeting held in Delhi. This decision comes as part of the INDIA bloc’s strategic seat-sharing arrangement, under which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took charge of the recent Chandigarh mayoral elections, allowing Congress to nominate the joint candidate for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Tewari, a seasoned politician and former MP of Anandpur sahib (2019) and Ludhiana (2009) , was selected over two other prominent contenders—Pawan Kumar Bansal, , and Harmohinder Singh Lucky. The announcement was made alongside the candidature of 15 other Congress candidates for various constituencies across the country. Amoungst all of them Manish Tewari is selected for the lok sabha elections.

Manish Tewari’s candidature is seen as a strategic move to leverage his previous experience and strong connection with the constituents of Chandigarh. The Congress party is optimistic about replicating past successes.
