Chandigarh, June 17—Residents of Chandigarh and the neighboring tricity region can expect some relief from the ongoing heatwave as the Meteorological Department forecasts a spell of rain starting tomorrow. According to the latest weather report, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated across isolated places in the tricity from June 18 to June 21, potentially easing the intense heat that has gripped the region.

The scorching temperatures, which have soared to a staggering 44-45°C in Chandigarh and 45-46°C in parts of Punjab and Haryana, are expected to persist for the next 48 hours. However, the Met Department official stated that “no large change in the maximum temperature is likely during the next three days.” Following this period, a slight decrease of around 3°C is expected, providing some much-needed relief.

The upcoming rain is also predicted to bring thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, with speeds ranging from 30-40 km per hour, particularly between June 18 and June 20. While these conditions might disrupt daily activities, they are a welcome change to the dry and oppressive heat that has affected the daily lives of the residents.

Citizens are advised to stay prepared for the changing weather conditions and to take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and gusty winds. The rain, though moderate, is a hopeful sign for farmers and local businesses that have been adversely affected by the prolonged heatwave.

Stay tuned to local weather updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the inclement weather.
