“Hunar Haat Chandigarh” is an effective mission to showcase-promote traditional & exquisite skills of master artisans.
Our country is full of the indigenous legacy of master artisans and craftsmen. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, these master artisans and craftsmen have their own identities and specialty. But due to lack of opportunities and market, the younger generations of these artisans had been moving away from their legacy. The Government has been organizing “Hunar Haat Chandigarh” in every corner of the country to preserve crafts and promote and provide vast market opportunities to our indigenous legacy of artisans and craftsmen.
These “Hunar Haat” proved to be an “Empowerment Exchange” for master artisans and craftsmen of the country. More than 8 Lakh 50 Thousand master artisans and craftsmen and other people associated with them have been provided employment and employment opportunities through “Hunar Haat” in the last about 7 years.
Besides showcasing rare handmade Handicraft and Handloom items, “Bawarchikhana” at “Hunar Haat” presents traditional delicacies from across the country to visitors coming at “Hunar Haat Chandigarh.” The people coming to “Hunar Haat” also enjoy traditional cultural programs and music from every corner of the country. “Hunar Haat” is based on the commitment to “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat” and “Unity in Diversity.” The theme for Hunar Haat is the “Vocal For Local” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” theme.
39th edition of ‘Hunar Haat’ in organized in Chandigarh | At Parade Ground, Sector-17
The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs is organizing 39th’ Hunar Haat’ at Parade Ground, Sector 17, from 25 March to 3 April under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence.
Location: Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh
‘Hunar Haat’ is being organized with the objective of taking forward skilled artisans, craftsmen, chefs from all over the country. The themes of the event are the “Vocal For Local” and the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” theme.
Besides, ‘Vocal for local,’ Hunar Haat is also based on the theme of “Best from waste.”
More than 700 artisans and craftsmen from 31 states and UTs are participating in the 10-day fair that will continue till 3 April. Entry is free.
They have come to this event for the exhibition and sale of indigenous products made by their own hands. In this, artisans from many states have brought with them many attractive and unique products made of wood, brass, bamboo, glass, fabric, paper, clay.
Punjab governor and UT administrator Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday inaugurated the 39th Hunar Haat at Parade Ground in Sector 17.

Hunar Haat Chandigarh is organized across the country
Under the ‘Ustaad’ scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Hunar Haat has already been organized across the country. Earlier, 39 Hunar Haat had already been organized across the country. In the year 2016, the first Hunar Haat was organized from 14th to 27th November.
In the coming days, ‘Hunar Haat’ will also be held in Agra, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Goa, Patna, Mumbai, Jammu, Prayagraj, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Kota, Sikkim, Srinagar, Leh, Shillong, Ranchi, Agartala, and other places.

It is Asia’s most extensive rose garden, named after India’s former president, Zakir Hussain and created in 1967 under the guidance of Dr M.S. Randhawa, Chandigarh’s first chief commissioner,
spread over 30 acres (120,000 m2) of land, with 50,000 rose-bushes of 1600 different varieties.
This festival lasts for three days and is visited by approximately 30,000 people from across the country.

Rose Festival Chandigarh 2022: After the reduction of the corona case, the preparations for the Rose Festival in Chandigarh have also been intensified. Various competitions will be held this time in the 50th Rose Festival organized by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. However, the corona prevention rules will be strictly followed. Applicants can apply for the competition from 15 to 24 February.
Applicants can fill and submit the application form from 15 February at Rose Garden Sector-16 from 10 am to 4 pm. One can fill applications online as well as offline.
It is noteworthy that this time the Rose Festival will be held from 25 February to 27 February.
You can apply for these competitions
Apply for Better Maintenance of Neighborhood Parks by RWAs (Class G) by 21 February. The next day, the Municipal Corporation will release the list of participants in the Rose Festival.
Badiya, Round About, Campus School, College (Class F G & H) Apply by 22 February, and Municipal Corporation will inform the applicants by 23 February.
Plants grown in pots (Class D and E) will have to apply by 23 February. The Municipal Corporation will give the information of those selected on 24 February.
Flower Management, Cut Flowers, and Rangoli (Class A, B, C, and I) apply by 24 February, and the list of selected participants will be released on 25 February.
Competitions will be like before
After the pace of the corona epidemic stopped, this time, it has been decided to organize various competitions in the Rose Festival. All the competitions will be inspired to beautify the city, and authorities will organize competitions based on cleanliness to decoration. According to sources, the cultural programs that will be held this time will include students from city schools and local artists. Artists from other states will not be invited this time.

This annual festival takes place at Sector 16 of Chandigarh at Zakir Hussain Rose Garden.

Highlights of Rose Festival 2022
The 50th edition of the Rose Festival kicked off with full glory on 25 February 2022, Friday in Chandigarh.
Hundreds of varieties of roses, in different hues decorating the landscape, innovative new designs, breathtaking floral displays, and exotic exhibits are the high points of the festival with events like floral hat display, rangoli competitions, photography exhibition, brass and pipe band competitions, and cultural evening also adding their unique charm to the event.
The three-day festival was formally inaugurated by the Punjab governor and UT administrator Banwarilal Purohit in the presence of mayor Sarabjit Kaur Dhillon. The ceremony commenced with the beating of drums, releasing balloons, playing bands, folk dance performances, and showcasing regional art forms.
On the second day, there were many colorful events in which the magic show and the live performance of the famous singer of Punjab Lakhwinder Wadali were special. Thousands of people had turned up to watch Wadali’s live performance.
On the third and last day of the rose festival, the first one was a cultural performance from Pandit Subhash Ghosh’s morning raga at 10 am. This was followed by Vijay Kumar’s (Khayali) standup comedy show at 11.30 pm. Punjabi folk songs give their performance at noon. At one o’clock there, Brij’s song and Mayur dance were performed by artists. At 3 pm, the municipal corporation gives prizes to the winners of various competitions. And there was a live performance on Sufi/folk songs by Dr. Mamta Joshi at 5.30 pm.

The counting of the 35 constituencies that came at the polling booth on December 24 will start around 9:00 am today i.e. 27 Dec, and the first counting will end one hour later. The State Election Commission is being updated from time to time by installing screens in front of all polling stations, and real-time updates are also available on the Commission’s “Nigam Chunav” mobile app, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. The Commission appointed nine counting observers, one at each counting centre. They will transparently oversee the aggregation process.
“To ensure strict adherence to the counting protocol, the sealing and removal of the EVM seal, the Election Commission has appointed the first counting observers at all counting centres.” said the Election Commission OSD Officer K. Bhandari.
This time, there is an increased number of wards, i.e. 35. Earlier it used to be 26 wards. A live monitor set-up has been installed inside the control room to monitor the daily activities. The total number of candidates expected is 203, which total all the three parties, i.e. AAM AADMI PARTY, CONGRESS, and BHARTIYA JANTA PARTY. Also, the total number of voters is more than six lakhs voting across 694 polling booths in Chandigarh.
